Three ghetto men disguised as cops rob a Harlem bookie joint. They take a
large cash haul but botch the job, slaughtering civilians, cops and hood alike.
The NYPD is after them posthaste, led by the thoroughly corrupt Captain Mattelli
(Quinn) and his still honorable nemesis, Lieutenant Pope (Kotto). These two have
to bury the hatchet long enough to find the trio before psychopathic Mafia scion
Nick D' Salvio (Franciosa) takes control of the whole operation.
