Black Samson
Starring: Rockne Tarkington, William Smith, Connie Strickland,
Carol Speed, Michael Payne
Director: Charles Bail
He speaks softly. He carries a big stick. Make that a very big stick - a heavy six-foot
staff used in the ancient Japanese fighting art of kendo. A neighborhood champion gives the mob the business
end of his kendo stick in Black Samson, a gritty, hard-hitting example of the so-called "blaxploitation" movies
that sprang up from life in America's inner cities in the 1970's. Tall, muscular Rockne Tarkington plays Samson, a well-liked
nightspot owner dedicated to letting folks do their own thing-as long as that thing doesn't involve letting the area become a
haven for syndicate drug operations. But mobsters always want what they can't have. Through extortion, firebombing, kidnapping
and more, Johnny Nappa (William Smith) and his enforcers are making their move on the community. Now it's up to Samson to make his.
When he does, the mobsters will see it coming. But they won't be able to do anything about it.
