the grueling story of a hood clawing his way to the top of an urban drug-selling mob. Starting
as just a small-time numbers runner, Perry eventually faces his final showdown against the drug
kingpin that murdered his best friend.
J.J. (Rod Perry) is a hustler with a conscience. A small time numbers runner who dabbles in
prostitution, J.J. draws the line at the drug trade which he sees as responsible for continuing
the slavery of black men.
After a violent confrontation with local mobster Tony Burton (Don Chastain) leaves a friend dead,
J.J. is taken under the wing of local numbers king Nate Williams (Jimmy Witherspoon), who teaches
him how to dismantle Burton's drug operation brick by brick.
